Overview

This easy yet rewarding trek offers spectacular views of the world’s highest peaks, including Everest and Kanchenjunga. Traversing the Singalila Ridge along the India–Nepal border, the trail provides distant views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu, along with a close, dramatic view of Kanchenjunga. From Sandakphu, Kanchenjunga appears like a reclining figure, famously known as the “Sleeping Buddha.” An extension of Kanchenjunga’s ridgeline, the Singalila Ridge is among the most scenic routes in the Himalayas. The region is culturally rich, blending Tibetan, Mongolian, Indian, and Nepalese influences. Buddhism predominates, and warm interactions with locals at trekker huts add a memorable cultural dimension to the journey.
