Overview

Opened in 2000, this remote Himalayan trail remains one of the finest yet least frequented treks in India. Stretching between Uttarey, Chiwabhanjang, and Dzongri, it offers complete isolation and spectacular high-mountain views. The route follows ridgelines along the India–Nepal border, passing yak herders, pristine alpine lakes, misty passes like DafeyBhir, and dramatic terrain above the tree line. After joining the Dzongri–Goechala trail, trekkers reach Goecha-la (4,960 m), just 9 km from Mount Kanchenjunga. The journey ends at historic Yuksom, making this trek a true classic for its solitude, variety, and breathtaking Himalayan scenery.
